During my time as the Member for Shepparton in the Victorian Parliament, it has been a privilege to represent our community, listen to local people and advocate for the things that matter to them.
Throughout my time in Parliament, I have worked alongside community organisations, local businesses, families, and individuals to make sure that the Shepparton electorate’s needs are heard, and our region receives the attention and investment it deserves.
Regional communities deserve their fair share of government investment, yet we know under a Labor Government that Regional Victoria does not get its fair share of funding, and in fact whist representing 25% of the States population, Regional Victoria currently only receives around 12% of funding.
A Jess Wilson-led Liberal and Nationals Government is committed to ensuring regional Victoria receives at least 25 per cent of all new Victorian Government infrastructure investment. That means a fairer share for our region and a stronger focus on the things local people tell us matter most — quality healthcare closer to home, better roads, more affordable homes, and safer communities.
We will back the regions and ensure we get the funding we desperately need and deserve – Regional Communities Matter.
It has been an honour to serve the people of the Shepparton District and to have advocated for the needs of our region throughout my time in Parliament. Together we have achieved some great investment and outcomes, but there is still so much more needed, and to be done.
As I look to the next chapter, I am delighted that Shane Sali is the National Party Candidate to replace me in the Seat of Shepparton. Shane knows the region; he knows the issues and has been a fantastic advocate and champion for the region. I know that Shane will continue to advocate for the region as passionately as I have.
