Seymour Lions Co-Captain Dylan Scopel is set to play his 200th senior game this weekend as Seymour takes on Tatura at Kings Park, becoming just the 17th player to do so in the club’s history and the first since Matt O’Keefe in 2017.

Scopel made his senior debut for the club in 2010, playing six games while splitting the rest of the season with the Lions’ Under 18s side.

Since then, Scopel has been a reliable presence in the senior side, captain since 2021 and regularly finishing at the pointy end of club’s Best & Fairest award.

Seymour Lions President, Gerard O’Sullivan, congratulated Scopel on the achievement and highlighted his importance to the club over more than a decade of service.

Mr O’Sullivan encouraged everyone to get down to Kings Park on Saturday for what will be amassive day for the Lions.

“I’d encourage everyone across the region to get to Kings Park to celebrate Dylan’s career alongside another really important event for the club,” Mr O’Sullivan said.

“We will be holding our fourth annual breast cancer fundraiser, with all funds raised going towards Breast Cancer Network Australia. Tickets can be bought online with the event kicking off at 2pm. We’ll also be honouring Sarah Locke who sadly passed just over a year ago after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

“For us, this weekend is about celebrating all the amazing people across our community, enjoying each other’s company and hopefully some big wins across the board for Dylan’s 200th.”
