FORMER AFL superstar Gary Ablett junior will be in town next week for two events hosted by the Shepparton Swans Football and Netball club.

The ‘Little Master’ was booked in as the main speaker at a three-course dinner event at Shepparton’s The Woolshed on Saturday, February 20. After the dinner sold out in the blink of an eye, Gary agreed to sit down for a Sunday lunch, too.

Widely considered one of the most impressive players the game has ever seen, Ablett played 357 AFL games and kicked 445 goals.

To list his career highlights would take a few more paragraphs.
Gary was twice a premiership player, and twice a Brownlow medalist. As a Geelong player, he won that team’s best and fairest award twice. While a Gold Coast Sun, he won the best and fairest four times.

President of the Shepparton Swans Football and Netball Club, Jarrod Sutherland, said the response to the event had been overwhelming.
Normally used to drumming up numbers to come along to club social events, Jarrod said it was “great to be running an event not relying on the same people showing up.”

“Gary Ablett is well respected by his attitude and how he goes about things, and The Woolshed is a great venue,” he said.

“It’ll be a great event and we can’t wait to host him.”
