IN the aftermath of a tragedy, the best of humankind comes to the fore as people rally to help those in need. In the wake of the Victorian bushfires earlier this year, many individuals, groups, and organisations came together to help those affected the most, including Watters Electrical.
Watters lent their support and expertise to the Ruffy Community Hall by providing and installing two heating and cooling units and two 15-amp power points. The project cost approximately $14,000, which Watters generously donated, with no labour cost to the hall.
The Tablelands Fire Recovery hub at the Ruffy Hall has been and continues to be a lifeline for the community, providing relief and recovery support. With pop up shop, a safe, cool, warm space for people to access food, clothing and other visiting supports, it has offered a place to connect, find comfort and a trusted source of communication.
Watters’ donation is a small step, but one that helps create a more comfortable and functional space for a community that has been significantly impacted by the bushfires.
“Watters’ generous donation of two split systems and their installation in Ruffy Hall is invaluable. As the only community building remaining after the January fires, the hall plays a crucial role in supporting Tablelands communities during recovery,” said Tableland member Colleen Furlanetto.
“Together, we are rebuilding with resilience and unity. Thank you from the Tablelands Fire Recovery Hub Volunteer Leadership Team on behalf of the Community.”
The work was completed on Monday, April 27, by the Watters team.
