THE Nationals Member for Shepparton District, Kim O’Keeffe is encouraging organisations to apply for a share of $350,000 for projects to help preserve the region’s heritage. The Local History Grants Program is currently accepting grant applications for up to $15,000.

Ms O’Keeffe said the funding round is a fantastic opportunity for local groups to secure important investment into their projects.

“Local history is precious to our community and our local groups do an excellent job collecting, preserving and sharing our stories,” said Ms O’Keeffe.

Katandra & District History Group Inc. was awarded $6,205 from a previous grant round to produce ‘From Adversity to Prosperity – The History of Katandra and District 1930-1960.

“Local schools, groups and sporting clubs have also been successful in getting investment to promote and record their histories and celebrate important milestones and anniversaries.”

“$15,000 can go a long way and I’m strongly encouraging local groups to make an application so that our stories can live on for generations,” said Ms O’Keeffe.

Applications are open now until Monday, 11 December 2023 and can be submitted online at https://prov.vic.gov.au/community/grants-and-awards/local-history-grants-program.
