SHEPPARTON school teacher, Chris Grant has authored a book to help inspire kids to read. The Crazy Life of a School Kid follows Jimmy as he finds inventive, and often funny, ways to confront school bullies.

The storyline is designed to show students the worthiness of reading, whilst educating them about bullying, how to stand up for themselves and how to develop stronger, kinder social skills.

Mr Grant, who teaches at Berry Street School, can relate to students who feel uninterested or unsure about reading.

He said, “I wasn’t interested in reading books growing up, but I learnt that there isn’t any way to get around it, so I thought I’d write a book that would help kids to want to read and to feel more confident.”

“I never thought I’d be writing a book, that’s for sure,” he laughed.

Suitable for children aged eight to 16 years, The Crazy Life of a School Kid features engaging quizzes that follow each chapter and as well as a helpful glossary.

“Often when kids are learning to read, they will skip over words that they don’t understand. Having a glossary means they can have a go on their own and feel proud.”

The Crazy Life of a School Kid can be purchased through local bookstores or from Amazon. The Adviser has two signed copies of the book to give away.
