THE Member for Northern Victoria, Wendy Lovell, has called on the State Government to allow regional Victoria to move immediately to the ‘Last Step’ on the roadmap for reopening.

Regional Victoria has recorded a 14-day average of 0.6 new daily cases.

According to the roadmap, regional Victoria can move from the Third Step to the Last Step when there are no new cases statewide for 14 days. At least a three-week gap is needed between changes.

Regional Victoria moved to the Third Step on Thursday, September 17.

“Daniel Andrews needs to separate regional and metro areas in determining when to implement the next easing of restrictions,” Ms Lovell said.

“At a 14-day average of just 0.6 daily cases, the Premier needs to immediately reward country Victorians and move us to the Last Step to get more businesses open and our economy recovery started.”

The Last Step would see further easings of numbers allowed inside restaurants and cafes, the reopening of gyms, and up to 50 people allowed to gather outdoors.
