DOZENS of entry-level jobs will become available next month as progress continues to develop on the state-of-the-art glasshouse being constructed in Tatura.
Building at the site on the Midland Highway got underway in July. The impact of local COVID-19 has slowed development, however, Flavorite will have a big intake of fresh staff in January 2022 to set up for planting.
Traditionally, large Truss tomatoes have been planted at the existing glasshouse. Tatura Fresh merged with Flavorite earlier this year, which has equated to more jobs and allowed both companies to diversify their commodities. With new facilities and plans to continue building on the site, we will see snacking tomatoes, cucumbers and more being grown in Tatura.
Around 60 full time workers are needed for everything from crop work to harvesting, which takes place around mid-February. While the ag industry has suffered from labour shortages, Flavorite CEO, Chris Millis said this has not been such a problem in Tatura.
Although relevant skills are appreciated, experience is not necessary as successful applicants will receive on-the-job training, as well as incentives such as KPI speed bonuses.
Flavorite is a family-owned business that has become one of Australia’s largest glasshouse producers of fresh fruit and vegetables. Their multi-million-dollar glasshouse has been supported by the State Government’s Regional Jobs Fund and will allow the company to be more sustainable by using world-leading European technology that reduces C02 emissions to reduce waste.
