Music to illuminate local talent

REHEARSED, polished and ready to captivate audiences once again with scintillating music, showcasing a blend of musical styles as well as celebrating newly commissioned works by talented local composers, The Goulburn Valley Concert Orchestra (GVCO) is set to present its Annual Concert on Saturday, June 17.

A concert to enthral music lovers of all ages, the GVCO Annual Concert, entitled Local Luminaries, will unveil a diverse repertoire ranging from the symphonic mastery of Dmitri Shostakovich to the cinematic excellence of Ennio Morricone and Erich Korngold, and will finish with the master of American popular melody, George Gershwin.

Under the guidance of music director Steven Sargant, the GVCO has dedicated months of weekly rehearsals to prepare for the concert, cultivating new collaborations between local artists and musicians to create not just an afternoon of exceptional music but an immersive, multimedia experience.

Riverlinks Venue Manager, Ken Cameron expressed his enthusiasm for the continued partnership, stating, “The collaboration between Riverlinks and Goulburn Valley Concert orchestra allows us to provide excellent and enjoyable music to the whole community while highlighting the incredible wealth of talent we have right here in our own backyard.” He adds, “This annual concert truly celebrates the local luminaries in our community.”

The GVCO’s Annual Concert will be performed at Riverlinks Westside on Echuca Road in Mooroopna on Saturday, June 17 from 2pm until 3.30pm.
