“I BOUGHT a ticket!” The modest words from an elated Margaret Schwarz, the well-deserved winner of Rotary Club Mooroopna’s (RCM) 2023 New Year’s Eve Car Raffle.

“I always buy a ticket for Rotary because they always do so much good,” said Margaret.

40 years ago, Les Young of RCM came up with the idea to raffle off a car to help raise money for the club. Then RCM came up with an event to give away the car, which became the Mooroopna New Year’s Eve festival. The annual event has become one of the highlights of the holiday season for the Greater Shepparton region.

And thank you so much to Les [Les Young of RCM] for all your involvement… I’m very, very grateful,” said Margaret, when presented with the keys to her brand-new Kia Sonic Sports.

Three other lucky contestants won a $1,000 supermarket or hardware voucher, are Tallangatta Takeaway, Michael of Rushworth, and Keith Smith.

The raffle raises much-needed funds for RCM and all the clubs in the district, which helps a lot of communities. And will be held again at the end of this year.
