STUDENTS from Notre Dame of MacKillop and McGann houses have come together to raise money for the Greater Shepparton Basketball Association’s All Abilities program, which they used to buy drink bottles for their participants.
Initiated by the house captains Lucy Bicknell, Holly Ralph, Tahlia Black, and Anatasia Bramich, the houses ran an awareness campaign and raised money to support the local AA Basketball program.
MacKillop and McGann houses hosted inspiring guest speakers: Geoff Wills, David Harcoan, Bianca Dyball and Shane Dalzell. They shared their personal journey of living with disability, speaking openly about the challenges they have faced and the opportunities they have embraced.
“It was amazing to see kids understanding different people and have a chance for them to explain their story and give insight into other people who might be going through the same issues,” said McGann House Captain Anatasia Bramich.
“You don’t know what everyone is going through. So you need to be empathetic to everyone because you don’t know what they are dealing with.”
The visit concluded the meaningful campaign that featured wheelchair basketball, inclusive Pastoral Group activities, and the much-loved Silly Socks Day. The funds Silly Socks Day raised $646.80, which the houses used to purchase personalised drink bottles to donate to Greater Shepparton Basketball Association’s All Abilities program.
