IN December 2020 “The Bridge Youth Services” purchased some land in Mooroopna to build units for young mothers in need of accommodation, these units and land will be known as “The Nest”.

“The Nest” will consist of three, two-bedroom homes where young mums can live independently with their child or children while being supported by the “Solid Foundations” wrap-around program.

Residents will typically be young single women who are teenagers up to twenty-five years of age. The young mothers or expectant mothers will have experienced a combination of family violence, homelessness, mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse or financial insecurity.

The outcome is to provide secure, safe, and affordable housing while also providing additional support for these young mothers to learn increased parenting and life-based skills.

The Bridge Youth Service is holding an online project launch on Wednesday November 17 from 4-5pm where more information will be provided on how the community can help this life changing project.

“This is a nice opportunity for the community to help be a part of our local area’s response to providing support to people in need,” said The Bridge Youth Services CEO, Melinda Lawley.
