PRODUCERS, growers and show goers in the Nicholl’s electorate can once again look forward to the Melbourne Royal Show.

The Nationals are providing $3.2M to the Melbourne Royal Show under Round 2 of the Supporting Agricultural Shows and Field Days program to support costs incurred from the cancelled 2021 event. The cash injection will ensure the show can successfully return this year after its cancellation in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19.

Nationals Candidate for Nicholls, Sam Birrell, has commended the government on the program saying the Melbourne Royal Show is a great opportunity for agricultural producers in Nicholls to showcase their incredible produce and innovations.

“The Melbourne Royal Show brings together people and business from across rural and regional Victoria to celebrate excellence in agriculture,” Mr Birrell said.

“After the cancellation of the Melbourne Show in 2021, I look forward to seeing exhibitors from Nicholls showcasing their expertise again this year.”

In a normal year the show attracts around 450,000 visitors over 11 days and contributes more than $244M to the state’s economy.
Mr Birrell said agricultural shows and field days are more important than ever, they contribute significantly to the economy and they bring people together to celebrate and learn about the agricultural industry.
