WORKS to stabilise the banks of the Goulburn River at Aquamoves have been completed by local contractor APEX Earthworks.

The erosion on that patch in the Goulburn River after the October 2022 floods was at its worst, with clear damage that threatened the safety of drivers and pedestrians alike if left unchecked.

Over 1,380 tonnes of rock from local quarries were strategically placed to stabilise the bank and prevent more damage in the future.

Greater Shepparton City Council’s director of infrastructure, Gary Randhawa, thanked the community for their patience while the works were undertaken.

“These stabilisation works were necessary to protect the riverbank from further damage and we thank Aquamoves members and the community for their patience and understanding while the works took place,” Gary said.

“The end result has stabilised the site and ensured the area is safe for motorists and pedestrians. We now look forward to adding some new vegetation which will further enhance the picturesque river views which the community love and enjoy.”
