THE Maude Street Mall redevelopment works are progressing along with the installation of the stage 2 hoarding in the northern end of the mall.
Stage 2 construction works are due to be completed in late July 2022. Once works are complete the hoarding will be removed, however the roadway will remain closed to traffic until the entire project is finalised.
Construction works on Stage 1 of the project, near Fraser Street, continue with the installation of the new playground expected in March.
Owner of Intersport Shepparton, Gary ‘Nipper’ Harvey is viewing the works in a positive light, acknowledging that while it may temporarily disrupt foot traffic, there is still access to his storefront and that of other nearby stores.
“Thankfully, the walkway is quite wide so people can walk through with ease and it is really well lit. Admittedly, it was a little disheartening that it first went up in September last year, when our Christmas trade begins, but we got through it and we’re really looking forward to seeing the works complete,” said Gary.
The project contractor has already completed a significant amount of demolition in the area to make way for the northern section of the new road surface which will be open to one-way low speed traffic when the project is complete.
Shoppers will notice lighting, shade structures, street furniture, tree cells, new concrete and paving installed in the coming months.
Greater Shepparton City Council would like to thank retailers and traders for their patience while we complete this project and encourage the community to continue to visit their favourite stores in the area during the works.
