CHOOSING between two sports is a challenge that faces many talented youngsters as fun and games with mates start to become serious; for Tyler Betson it’s a choice of three. After a breakout year, Tyler helped the Shepparton East school team win the grade 6 soccer Grand Final, the Dookie under 14s win the Grand Final in Kyabram District Football Netball League, and has made the team for the first division under 14s Shepparton Gators basketball team.

It’s been a whirlwind year for the young man who turned 12 last month, with people saying he couldn’t play three sports. With help, he’s managed to keep up with all three of his commitments. Including his Dookie coach picking him up from soccer games and rushing him to the grounds to fill the role of fullback for his first season of Aussie rules footy.

Worries about his future in sports are far from Tyler’s mind, he’s still happy enjoying his sport and having fun with his mates, but the quiet dream ticking away is the desire to play in the NBA like his hero – Golden State Warrior, Steph Curry.
