To the Moon

NASA’s Artemis II mission lifted off at 9:35am AEDT on Thursday, April 2, with the space agency hoping to send humans around the Moon for the first time since 1972.

Four astronauts, including the first woman, first person of colour and first non-US citizen to travel beyond low Earth orbit, are on board the Orion capsule atop NASA’s next-generation SLS rocket at Cape Canaveral, Florida.

At the time this was printed, the crew surpassed the record for human’s farthest distance from Earth previously set by Apollo 13, at 248,655 miles from Earth.
