Top four tightens

MOOROOPNA has leapt to the top of the Cricket Shepparton A-Grade ladder with a seven-wicket win over Karramomous on Saturday on the back of an unbeaten 70 by wicketkeeper-batsman Brad Lowe.

Mooroopna now leads a pack of four teams separated by only two points at the top of the Haisman Shield competition with only four rounds to play before the finals.

Playing in Mooroopna, Karramomous batted first and battled their way to 8/160 at the close of their 45 overs. Bayden Bailey was most impressive with the bat, knocking 61* off just 73 balls to bolster the visitors’ total.

In reply, a quick-fire 103-run partnership between Jac Smith-Williams and Brad Lowe gave Mooroopna the ascendency.
Mooroopna hosts the hapless last-placed Tatura this Saturday, which should be a short affair.
