IN response to safety concerns from Tatura residents, Council will install speed cushions on the approaches of three zebra crossings in Hogan Street, Tatura.

These cushions are designed to engage drivers to reduce speed near pedestrian crossings, allowing vehicles time to stop if a pedestrian enters the crossing.

Data from the TAC reveals that in 2022, 29 pedestrians have lost their lives on Victorian roads, an increase from 16 lives lost at the same time last year.

The proposed cushions are prefabricated from recycled rubber and can be installed on top of the existing road surface. Associated warning signs will also be installed.

Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 15 and the works are expected to take two days to complete.
Some lane closures may be necessary during this time and traffic management will manage the flow of traffic and work to minimise the inconvenience.
