A few weeks ago, The Shepparton Adviser broke the news that seven men had been arrested in relation to alleged fraud at Greater Shepparton City Council and a private business, which occurred between 2022 and 2026.
The investigation remains ongoing, however, several sources have said that the incident allegedly involves purchase orders on new tyres.
It is alleged that some council staff purchased tyres through council accounts using public funds before allegedly reselling them or using them for profit or gain.
It is important to note that these allegations remain unproven at this time.
Council would not comment on the matter whilst the investigation remains ongoing. The investigation arose from concerns identified by Council and referred by Council to Victoria Police.
