ACCLAIMED singer/songwriter, Neil Murray, opened Shepparton ACE Secondary College at an unofficial ceremony last week.
Staff, students, their families, along with faces from the community including Councilors, politicians, and representatives from action group, Residents for a Greater Shepparton, who oppose the social housing proposal next to the school, were in attendance in what was a cheerful and moving event.
In more positive news for the school community, Principal Bronwyn Rose said that Mark Gepp MP visited the school for the first time recently to clear up any concerns over the official opening, and that he will return to the school for the official opening.
“This meeting was positive, and we appreciate and believe that Mr Mark Gepp will follow up our concerns and visit the school on another occasion,” she said.
Neil Murray praised the school for being one of the only small schools of its kind, making a difference by making mainstream learning achievable for a range of vulnerable learners in a small school environment and addressing barriers to learning, like school fees and uniforms.
