Carlie Mackelmann from Invergordon has been announced by the Ballarat Foundation as the recipient of the 2025 Matthew George Young Stockman Award, presented October 3 at the Royal Melbourne Show.
The award honours the legacy of Matthew George, a passionate young cattleman from Ballarat whose life was cut short in a road accident in 2007. Created by the George family in partnership with the Ballarat Foundation, the award recognises outstanding young stockmen and women who display the same values Matthew was known for.
Carlie impressed judges with her strong leadership qualities and commitment to the agriculture industry. She now joins an inspiring group of past award recipients who continue to make a difference in the livestock and farming sectors.
