On reaching an age we all might aspire to, Edna Harling is the picture of good health. Only coming into care at the Banksia Lodge in Kialla Lakes when she was 102, Edna shared her 105th birthday with friends and family on Monday, October 28.

Edna was overwhelmed by the support and overall celebration she received, with special video messages from Australian Bowls coach, Steve Glasson along with two players, as well as from Eddie McGuire, which she wasn’t expecting.

A mad keen Collingwood supporter, Edna figures that next year will be the year for her beloved Magpies. She is also a champion bowler having been inducted into the Shepparton Sports Hall of Fame in 2017. Edna still loves to get out and explore the region, she enjoys brain challenges and loves to shop and dress up.

On any Saturday when she is not taking notice of the football, Edna and friend, Kath Chilcott might be found at the Peppermill where the two go for lunch and to have a flutter on the pokies.

Like women of all ages, Edna also likes to go shopping for new clothes. According to friends, she is always immaculately dressed.

She remains interested in everything her family is involved in and still attends as many celebrations as she can. She just loves hearing all about her great grand children and is always full of suggestions!! She remains interested in everything they are doing and joins in with their games. Feelings are mutual. The great-grandchildren always want to see Nanna or want her to be there or go to visit her.

Shepparton Villages now has five centenarians across their three locations.
