With so much happening throughout the region during the next two weeks, we decided to compile a list of just some of the great low cost and free activities taking place during the school holidays.

September 21

‘KidsTown Carnival’ – The carnival will be on again at KidsTown these school holidays, featuring live music, rides, bungee trampoline, dodgem cars, show bags and much more. Entry by gold coin donation. KidsTown | 2pm – 7pm daily

‘St Georges Road Community Drive-In’ – Bring the family and enjoy a good old-fashioned drive-in experience with the movie Moama. There will also be food trucks available. Entry $5 per car. Victory Park, St Georges Road | Gates at 6pm, movie starts at 7pm

‘Monthly Makers: Landscape Painting’ – Kids aged 7-15 can discover the joys of nature and landscape painting. Cost $10, bookings essential. Shepparton Art Museum | 10:30am – 12pm

September 22

‘Orienteering’ – Keep your body fit and mind active with this sport for all ages and abilities. Use a map to find checkpoints in our beautiful landscape. No prior experience necessary – just a sense of adventure. Botanic Gardens | 10am – 11:30am

September 23

‘Come and Try Croquet’ – Enjoy a fun and interactive physical activity session where you can learn how to play croquet. Bookings are essential for this free event. Shepparton Croquet Club | 10:30am – 11:30am 

‘Tennis Clinic’ – Join head coach Luke Dixon from Keystone Tennis for a clinic that’s a fantastic way to introduce children to the sport of tennis. Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club | 12pm – 1pm

September 24

 ‘Paper Pulp Pictures’ – A fun creative session of paper pulp picture making. Tatura Library | 11am

‘Yoga and Mindfulness for Kids’ – Child specific yoga classes for 6-12 year olds will introduce you to yoga with mindful breathing, standing and balancing postures, meditation and yoga games. KidsTown | 10am – 11am

‘Marionette Dragon Puppet’ – Use simple crafts to make a dragon puppet you can actually enjoy playing with. Shepparton Library | 10:30am 

‘Come and Try Athletics’ – Come on down to the athletics track and give athletics a go! Shepparton Athletic Track | 10:30am – 11:30am

‘Spotlight Walk’ – See the fascinating nocturnal native animals that call our local bushland home. Registrations are essential. Location upon registration | 6:30pm – 8pm

‘Chris’ Kites’ – A fun and creative kite-making workshop where you will colour in your own kite and have fun making it. Tatura Park – Main Oval | 10am – 11:30am 

‘Accordion Critters’ – Use simple paper folding make bees, caterpillars, snakes and more. Mooroopna Library | 10:30am

 ‘Breakfast with the Birds’ – Enjoy an avian adventure identifying the amazing variety of birds that frequent our beautiful area. Reedy Swamp | 8am – 10am

‘Junior Zombie Dress Up Day’ – Dress up like a zombie and take part in fun activities, including zombie crawl, slide jumping castle, spooky train rides and slime making workshops. KidsTown | 11am – 3pm 

September 27

 ‘Playground Escapade Bus’ – Join the bus tour to explore many of the wonderful playgrounds and parks around the region. Departs from Shepparton Sports Stadium | 10am – 12pm

 ‘Protecting Turtles Day’ – Learn about the local turtle species, go turtle spotting with an expert and make nest protection kits to help keep the turtles safe from foxes in summer. Cussen Park, Tatura | 10am – 12pm

‘Boulevard Bush Reserve Community Day’ – Learn about all the plants and animals that live in the reserve, try a treasure hunt and lend a hand to protect the area during a litter and weed blitz. Boulevard Bush Reserve | 10am – 12pm 

‘Amazing Race’ – Teams race against each other in a scavenger hunt and compete different challenges to receive your next clue. KidsTown | 11am – 12pm
