Day of delight destined for Dookie

With the dust still settling from all the excitement surrounding the Annual Shepparton Show last weekend, Dookie is set to come alive with its own fun day of family-friendly activities.

With something for people of all ages, you can really see why the Dookie Show considers itself as ‘The Family Show’. Taking place on Saturday, November 2 and now in its 136th year, there will be new and exciting activities for the whole family, not to mention plenty of free activities!

Dookie Show president, Peter Shields said, “This year, we have more sideshow entertainment. On the main arena, we have one of the biggest same-day, same-venue horse show competitions in country Victoria.

“There will be something for everyone, from the popular dog jump contest, to seminars on a wide range of topics, with plenty of seating available.

“The standard of the photography section is second-to-none in this region and we are quite proud of that. The cute and friendly animal nursery will also be here again, along with face painting, vintage steam engines and not to mention the great show bags!”

Throughout the day, there will be kids’ activities such as gumboot tossing, noughts and crosses and can bowling. Later in the day and back by popular demand, the egg and spoon races and tug of war competitions will entertain audiences on the oval.

The pavilions will be full of entries of all kinds including horses, cattle, sheep, chickens, wool, crops, flowers, artwork, cooking, needlework and much more.

The 136th Dookie Show will take place on Saturday, November 2 at the Dookie Showgrounds on the corner of Badlock Street and Dookie Street. Admission prices are $10 for adults, $5 for pensioners and $5 for children (aged 6 – 16). For more information, call president Peter Shields on 0419 317 671 or secretary Suzie Hall on 0428 765 893.
