Early Years draft plan out for consultation

A majority of young children growing up in the Greater Shepparton region have the benefit of being able to attend Council run maternal and child health centres, playgroups, childcare and kindergarten.

At the July Council meeting, the Council endorsed the draft, Greater Shepparton Best Start Early Years Plan 2020-2025 and released it for public exhibition for a period of four weeks.

The Greater Shepparton Best Start Early Years Plan 2020-2025 is a new six-year plan with the aim of improving learning, health and wellbeing outcomes for children aged 0 to six years. Greater Shepparton’s first combined Best Start Early Years Plan was developed in 2006.

The new plan has five key themes – Play, Learn, Thrive, Voice and Share. All themes have a series of measures of success to determine progress or achievements.

“The Greater Shepparton Best Start Early Years Plan 2020-2025 provides the strategic direction and way forward for Council and the local community to continue to prioritise early childhood development and investment,” Mayor Cr Seema Abdullah said.

The Best Start Early Years Plan 2020-2025 is open for comment from 22 July 2020 – 19 August 2020.
