THE recent appointment of new general manager, Lachlan Gordon to the Kyabram Fauna Park will help see the park’s future successes through his wealth of knowledge and experience.

Mr Gordon’s previous roles include working in the zoological industry for 12 years at attractions including Australia Zoo, Cairns Safari Park, Cairns Tropical Zoo and Paradise Country.

Since 2016, Mr Gordon has been park curator of Oakvale Wildlife Park in New South Wales.

“I’m extremely eager and excited to help grow this terrific attraction to ensure its success now and into the future,” Mr Gordon said.

“I’m looking forward to working with the passionate and talented team at the park as well as the local community to help Kyabram Fauna Park grow and prosper.

“The park has a strong history of conservation and environmental education, and during my career I’ve been actively involved in threatened, vulnerable and endangered species breeding programs as well as conservation-based research programs, so there’s a real synergy there.

“Over the last 12 years I’ve worked with more than 300 species and thousands of animals so I’m keen to get to know Kyabram Fauna Park’s animals and look at how we can develop the collection for conservation aims and the best possible visitor experiences.

“The fact the park is so well-loved by the local community was a major selling point when I considered applying for the role, along with the opportunity to work alongside some of the greatest minds in the Victorian zoo industry.”
