Alongside the dark and dusty depths of mines for various metals and industrial compounds in remote locations around the world, a valuable byproduct that fascinates people in high society are the crystals and mineral formations that shine and sparkle and adorn women of substance.

The variety of gemstones is infinite as it is fascinating. The GV Gem Mineral and Craft Group Gemstone Extravaganza to be held this weekend will put on display a magnificent range of crystals and gemstones at all stages of their development.

Around a dozen commercial traders will have displays with gemstones and finished products on show and available for sale along with demonstrations of silverwork, as well as the cutting and polishing of gemstones.

With people coming from all over Australia to attend the event, the location at the Shepparton Racing Complex will allow for camping on site and catering is being organised through local venues.

Towards the end of the extravaganza will be a rock auction which will be open to the public with stones and crystals donated by the traders. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The Gemstone Extravaganza will be held at the Quest Shepparton Racing Complex, Goulburn Valley Highway, Kialla on November 23 and 24 from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. Entry will be $5.00 for adults and free for children under 12.
