ALPHA is a program that has been running throughout the world by Christians of all traditions for many years, and St Brendan’s Parish has just launched the 11-week 2022 program this week.
“In 2021 the first Alpha program at St Brendan’s was interrupted by COVID lockdowns, from our initial few weeks in the planned gathering setting, to one where we conducted our sessions via Zoom,” said organiser, Marie Fontana.
The program will run at St Brendan’s Catholic Church, Knight Street, Shepparton, from now through to the final night on July 25, 2022.
A meal is served at 6:30pm and childcare is provided for those requiring it, with sessions aiming to finish by 8:30pm.
“The Alpha Program is designed to introduce people to an initial proclamation of the good news of Jesus Christ. It takes people on a journey often leading to a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. It enables people to ask questions, share ideas, build friendships and experience the love of God through the power of the Holy Spirit,” said Marie.
Alpha has a series of interactive sessions exploring the Christian faith. No two Alphas are the same, but they have three things in common: food, a talk and good conversation.
“We are open to anyone within Shepparton and surrounds, with the only things required being your time and, if desired, sharing your thoughts with others in a non-judgemental environment,” said Marie.
Anyone wishing to register is asked, in the first instance, to contact the Parish Office on 5821 2633, and the staff will have an Alpha Team member contact you to answer any questions you may have.
Registration is required in order to comply with COVID rules around numbers and to ensure any dietary requirements are advised, as well as childcare needs.
