Murray implodes against Calder

THE Murray Bushrangers have suffered a 20 point loss against the Calder Cannons at the Albury Sportsground. Errant kicking in the opening term saw the Bushrangers kick six behinds for the term to just one behind for Calder.

Calder kicked the first goal to start the second term and was able to lead by 11 points at half time. The third term was the Bushrangers best of the game having seven shots on goal for just three goals and led by three points at the final change. But whatever advantage the Bushrangers had was eroded when Calder unleashed after the nine minute mark with eight goals to two to run out 20 point winners.

The highlight of the final term was a Will Chandler smother, tackle and goal from the one passage of play; but it was all too late as the Bushrangers lost the game and key midfielder, Kyle Clarke to a serious knee injury in the first quarter.

Will Chandler was a leading light for the Murray Bushrangers and showed enormous potential as a bottom age player in a strongly contested game; and was rewarded with four goals in a great four quarter effort.

Bottom age players led the way with midfielder, Dylan Clarke and forward, Jye Chalcraft providing resistance and drive around the ground. Inside midfielder, Ely Smith showed his talents in a strong display against quality opposition midfielders.

Defender, Robert Paradzayi showed effort and was composed under pressure with his kicking a highlight. With Cameron Wilson also prominent and showed excellent tenacity and ran the ball to give the Bushrangers quality possession.

With a development weekend to follow the Murray Bushrangers, in two weeks time, will travel to Eureka Stadium in Ballarat to clash with the Gippsland Power for the third time this season.
