Having migrated to Australia with her family from war-torn Afghanistan ten years ago, Zahra Haydar Big has immersed herself fully into the Greater Shepparton community
Currently studying for a Diploma in Community Services, she has been engaged with a number of local agencies that serve the interests of the people of Greater Shepparton.
She sees her candidacy as an opportunity to support the community to recover from the impact of the COVID–19 pandemic through collaboration and consultation.
“The local youth needs to be represented and given more support,” Zahra said.
“We need initiatives to encourage our younger generation to remain in the region, achieve their goals and serve the local community.
“Consultation and the opinions of the local community members in the region are important and must be heard.”
