SUNDAY saw more than 30 members from the Shepparton Runners Club (SRC) compete at the 2019 Wangaratta Fun Run with members competing in distances from the half marathon to the 5km fun run.

The club saw many of its member’s personal bests broken this year. Chris Nicholson managed a new personal best of 1:38:50. Chris said, “I am happy with what I achieved, I put in the training and everything came together.”

Nathan Stoate competed for the first time in Wangaratta in the 5km fun run and was the first to cross the finish line in a time of 15:57.

“I was amazed to come first being the first time in Wangaratta,” Nathan said.

Shepparton Runners Club coach, Chris Armstrong said, “As a club we are starting to build a really positive environment, running might be the common bond we share, but it’s the support, mateship and genuine joy for others success that makes SRC a really enjoyable place to be.

“Seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces at Wangaratta and the sense of pride in their own and each other’s achievements is why I love coaching. Thank you to you all for the parts you play in making the club feel like a big family.”

The SRC train every Tuesday and Thursday nights and hold a handicap race every month. It is a great way for anyone in the community to start running. For more information on the club, visit sheppartonrunnersclub.com.au or find them on Facebook.
