Reduce your risk of Coronavirus

With more and more cases of positive Coronavirus cases each day in Victoria, the State Government and GV Health want to remind people of some simple and easy ways to lower your risk of catching the virus.

Make sure you always wash your hands before a meal and after using the toilet. Hands should be washed with soap and running water for at least 20 seconds, and make sure to dry your hands with paper towel or a hand dryer.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, mouth, and shaking hands with others.

Cover your mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow. Make sure to wash your hands or use hand sanitiser (an alcohol-based sanitiser with over 60 percent alcohol is best) if you do sneeze or cough into your hands.

If you’re feeling unwell, call your GP first if you believe you need medical attention. They will advise you on what to do. Try to isolate yourself at home if you are feeling unwell.

There is no need to wear a face mask if you are feeling well. Face masks won’t prevent you from getting ill.

Continue healthy habits: exercise, drink plenty of water, get plenty of sleep, and now is the time to quit smoking. Call the Quitline on 137 848.

If you are concerned, call the Coronavirus hotline on 1800 675 398.
