WITH the centralised convenience of being a part of the Mooroopna Hub and with the local library and men’s shed attached, the Mooroopna Education & Activity Centre (MEAC) is an excellent space to socialise and learn new skills.

On Mondays, commencing February 4, MEAC will offer Music Lessons ‘in a School of Rock environment’, where beginners and advanced performers can learn lifelong skills in a social setting. Beginners classes start at 4:15pm, with advanced classes taking place immediately afterwards.

For those who would rather dance to music than actually perform it, Line Dancing is incredibly popular and takes place at the hub on Tuesdays. Instructor, Kay Blakeley gets everyone scooting and smiling with this fantastic exercise for the body and brain.

If you have a story to tell but no knowledge on how to put your words together, MEAC’s Memoir Writing Workshop will help you learn how to put together the right words that tell your stories.

Keeping on the theme of mental and physical wellbeing, MEAC offers a four-week Meditation course. For women specifically, there is an art therapy course centred on finding self-worth through creativity and holistic counselling.

MEAC manager, Jan Phillips said, “This is just a small selection of the wide range of activities we have on at the Mooroopna Hub. We encourage people not only from Mooroopna but also from right across the region to come in and get involved.

“Our purpose is to provide a platform for people of all abilities, backgrounds and ages to come together, connect, meet and engage with others through the many and varied educational recreational and fun activities being provided.”

MEAC is positioned to respond to the needs of the community, capitalise on opportunities and work with the community towards its future development.
