GOTAFE student, Bailey Cooper has found his career path in hospitality after changing his original study preference from carpentry.

After realising that carpentry wasn’t for him, Bailey decided to follow his passion for cooking and started doing back of house work during year 12.

A large number of students benefit from the accessible, affordable and industry-focused education and training received through GOTAFE and go on to be successful in a wide range of occupations.

Many GOTAFE courses also have the added advantage of being eligible for credit toward their degree and giving students multiple qualifications to their name when they complete their studies.

Bailey explains how the course prepared him to succeed once he was out in the industry, “I really enjoyed experiencing the cooking side of things and used my opportunity while studying at GOTAFE to learn front of house skills as well. I wanted to make sure I had experience in different elements of hospitality so that I have skills to work in all areas.

“The course is great because I now have a lot of experience and when I have graduated I have lots of opportunities for work,” Bailey said.

GOTAFE offers hundreds of nationally recognised courses, providing students with practical hands-on skills that are designed to allow students to follow their passion and increase employability.
