Switch off and #Connect2Earth

ON Saturday, March 30 at 8:30pm, everybody across the world is being encouraged to shine a light on the impact of biodiversity in Australia as a result of climate change for the 2019 Earth Hour.

During Earth Hour, Australians will be called upon to turn off their lights between 8:30pm and 9:30pm as a symbol of support to protect our planet for future generations.

Launched by WWF-Australia in 2007, Earth Hour has become the world’s biggest grassroots environmental movement where landmarks and communities switch off their lights to show their support for a brighter future for the planet.

An Earth Hour spokesperson said, “Australia is home to some of the world’s most iconic and breathtaking natural landscapes and wildlife. But climate change is putting all this at risk.

“To protect our unique species and their habitats, we need Australia to step up now and take stronger action on the promise we made at the 2015 Paris Agreement. The latest government data shows that Australia will miss its 2030 targets. We risk losing our beautiful natural heritage – forever.

“We don’t have a moment to lose! Send a message now to key Australian politicians to urge stronger action on climate change and get Australia back on track to meet its Paris Agreement targets.

“It’s time to switch off and #Connect2Earth.”

Sign up to switch off at 8:30pm on Saturday, March 30 and join millions of people in over 190 countries to show the need for stronger climate action.
