Recalling the camaraderie and friendship shared amongst his teammates as they forged ahead to win the 1954 grand final against rivals Lemnos, reserve player Lloyd Freer recounted:

Mooroopna and Football Netball club past players hosted surviving players from the 1954 reserves premiership team. Six of the team are still alive and four attended. Geoff Rose, Rod Speers and Graeme ‘Bluey’ Halls. Unfortunately, Alan Rogerson had an injury and couldn’t come, and Harry Garthwaite was ill and couldn’t attend.

The MC Jamie Madgwick asked questions and answers were forthcoming amusing the 60 or so in attendance for the half time celebration. Great memories were recalled by the group.

Bill Dowling, the club president invited the 1954 players to the change rooms after the senior match where the group was well received. The entire day was appreciated by the players of 69 years ago.
