RISING to the challenge, the Shepparton Golf Club was a sea of yellow on Saturday, August 20, as nearly 200 golfers took to the course in honour of local golfer, Jarrod Lyle, for the #DoingItForJarrod fundraising event.
A successful, international golfer, Jarrod Lyle was also a devoted ambassador for Challenge, an organisation dedicated to raising money for children with cancer and their families. Yellow was Jarrod’s signature colour as a cancer fundraiser, before sadly succumbing to a form of the disease in 2018.

In a quest to raise 17K for Challenge, the Shepparton Club, along with its many sponsors and supporters raised an astounding $38K, more than doubling its original target.
“The Shepparton Golf Club is proud to now hold the National fundraising record for a #DoingItForJarrod event of over $38K and look forward to other cubs breaking our fundraising record,” says Ray Sizer, long-time friend of Jarrod.
“The Shepparton Golf Club and Challenge thank the Shepparton community for their support of this event. We have been overwhelmed by the support of local businesses, service clubs and individuals,” acknowledges Ray.
Amongst many highlights from the day, Ray says the #DoingItForJarrod auction brought out some excited bidding, particularly for a Collingwood jumper and a signed flag from Geoff Ogilvy’s 2006, US Open win.
While Jarrod’s daughters spent the afternoon supporting their father’s legacy trying to win the putting competition, Ray was moved to say, “I am very proud of the Shepparton Golf Club bringing together so many people and businesses to make such an enormous difference to children with cancer and to honour Jarrod’s legacy.”
