Getting the best thongs on the market

IN Australia, thongs may be widely considered as the go-to comfortable footwear. Unfortunately, no podiatrist has ever endorsed them as a decent choice in the long run. Typical thin, flat thongs are the opposite of ‘supportive footwear’.

It’s why physiotherapist Daniel Jones set about designing orthotic thongs, ones that adequately catered for a younger demographic who care about their health and fitness.

“Despite my best attempts to advise my patients to wear more supportive footwear, this would almost always be ignored, as let’s face it, thongs are a way of life in the Australian summer!” Daniel said.

The result is Archies Thongs – thongs (made in Echuca) which are now the choice of many of Australia’s elite athletes and now available at many of Australia’s leading health practices and athletic shoe stores.

“I attempted to eliminate many of the other design flaws of ‘regular thongs’ such as them often having a loose strap, having no heel elevation and having straps that are made from hard plastic which commonly causes irritation and often breaks at the toe pole,” he said.

The Archies Thongs, approved by podiatrists, are available in Shepparton at Nixon Podiatry, 116 Nixon Street (5831 3169) and at their second location at 38 Vaughan Street (5858 5595).
