AFTER a long and uncertain wait, cricket returned to Shepparton last weekend.

Round one of the Cricket Shepparton season commenced on Saturday, with a reduced schedule featuring exclusively 45-over one-day matches.

At Shepparton’s Princess Park, Nagambie took the chocolates with ease over United. Four wickets and a half-century by Nagambie skipper Mark Nolan saw his side over the line with six wickets in hand.

For United, Chaminda Vidanapathirana bowled an incredibly tight spell of nine overs, going for only three runs and seven maidens.

In other results, a top-score of 66 by opener Paul Newman saw Kyabram defeat Tatura, Mooroopna defeated Numurkah by 10 runs, Central Park/St Brendans defeated Northerners by two wickets in a high scoring match, and partnership batting saw Old Students defeat Karramomus.
