DURING the holiday break, it is important we all take extra care on the roads to ensure the safety of our loved ones, the wider community and ourselves.
Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police, SES and CFA have partnered with GMCU, Triple M and The Adviser to launch the annual ‘Fatigue & Speed Kills’ campaign to ensure the welfare of all during the Christmas break.
Last year, 12 lives were lost on our roads during the Christmas and New Year period.
This is why drivers are being urged to take a break and stay awake this festive season.
“Every death on our roads is one too many. We are proud to partner with Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police, the SES, the CFA, Triple M and The Adviser to promote awareness and keep our community safe on the roads via the annual ‘Fatigue and Speed Kills’ road safety campaign,” GMCU chief executive officer, Melissa Ralph said.
“We wish everyone a happy – and safe – festive season with family and friends.”
Locals die on local roads and one death is way too many. Please be patient and take a break when travelling to your destinations during the Christmas and summer holidays.
Senior Sergeant David Gillespie from Victoria Police, Shepparton said, “I would like to ask drivers to slow down on the roads over the break and particularly when passing emergency workers engaged in their work on the roads.”
