MAINSTREAM beers can be found around the world, in most pubs and clubs that sell alcohol. Craft beers are a little different but they have grown in popularity in Australia, and there are lots of Aussie made craft beers to enjoy.

Drinking homegrown craft beer is the best way to support the local industry and keep profits in the country. The main difference between craft and mainstream brands are the natural ingredients, without additives or preservatives.

To keep costs down, mass produced beers are pasteurized and use preservatives and inferior ingredients. Rather than use traditional hops, many popular beers now use rice or corn to cut costs. Craft beer is made with hand selected ingredients and is only produced in smaller batches by master brewers who genuinely love beer.

Mass produced beers are typically pale, watery yellow and the head of the beer disappears not long after being poured into a glass. The appearance and taste sets craft beer apart. Craft beers can come in a variety of colours and flavours depending on the ingredients selected.

Because craft beer is produced locally and in small batches, you can travel to a local brewery and meet the very people that crafted your favourite beer. Whether you’re buying craft from the pub or the bottle shop, or dining in a brewery, there is something totally unique about craft beer.
