LIVING at home without any support, or moving into a residential aged care facility – these are the options people think they have to choose between as they get older.
However, there is a third way: a home care package.
A home care package is Australian Government funding to pay for a ‘bundle’ of services that are tailored to meet a person’s specific care needs.
Through a home care package, you may be able to receive help around the house, such as vacuuming and gardening, or modifications to make your house safer and easier for you to move around in.
Home care packages pay for services that keep you well, safe and active, so receiving one doesn’t lead to a loss of independence or freedom – it’s actually quite the opposite.
