LOCAL cricket clubs are gearing up for a cracker season. Before the action gets underway, children aged five to eight are welcome to try the sport at a free at Princess Park this month.

“We just want kids to come down and have fun. For some, it could be the first time they have played cricket and others could be returning to the sport,” said Shepparton Youth Cricket Club United CC (SYCUCC) junior coordinator, Steve Pinnuck.

“Cricket is a great sport to make new friends and to stay active. We’re one of the few local clubs with a senior ladies team, and we are working to build upon pathways for women to continue in the sport.”

There are two come and try days happening Monday, August 29 from 4.15pm, and again on Saturday, September 10 from 1pm, at the John Riordan Oval Princess Park, Shepparton.

No equipment is required, and you are welcome to have a go at both sessions. Information about pre-season registration will be available at the events or call Steve for more info on 0419 876 087.
