AS a new consultant dermatologist 9 years ago, Dr Alice Rudd offered tele-health dermatology consultations to the Shepparton community via local GP’s.
As time went on, Alice recognised that to effectively service the dermatologic needs of her patients in this region, she needed to visit Shepparton and see patients face-to-face.
Dr Rudd initially consulted privately and visited Rumbalara, working closely with the local indigenous community.
Now Dr Rudd consults monthly from GV Skin and Specialist Centre at 20 Wyndham Street, Shepparton, alongside other professional female colleagues such as plastic surgeon, Dr Sophie Ricketts. She has also now expanded her services to the Wangaratta region.
Dr Rudd provides a holistic and tailored approach to her patients care, offering general dermatology management of psoriasis, eczema and acne as well as skin cancer and rashes. Dr Rudd employs a variety of methods such as UVB phototherapy, biologics, and biopsies to help diagnose and treat her patients.
“A holistic approach involves treating the whole patient and being invested in their long-term goals and needs. I believe in offering my patients individualised treatment plans to treat skin conditions and concerns,” said Dr Rudd.
Recently, she has had the privilege of being joined by local melanographer and registered Division 1 nurse, Alanna Adams, who is helping facilitate the delivery of dermatologic care to patients here in the Goulburn Valley.
“I am thrilled to be working alongside such a knowledgable and experienced specialist like Dr Rudd. It is imperative the Shepparton community has access to high-quality specialist care which negates the need to travel to Melbourne,” said Alanna.
Dr Rudd also has a thriving metropolitan practice in St Kilda (Skindepth Dermatology), but her love of the Alpine area and outdoors as well as addressing the crucial need for quality health care in regional areas has kept her coming to this part of regional Victoria. Dr Rudd is indeed becoming part of the local fabric.
