New hydration station for soccer players

THE region’s soccer enthusiasts will now have easy access to quench their thirst with quality, free drinking water.

A permanent hydration station has been installed at the soccer fields at the Shepparton Sports City precinct in partnership with Greater Shepparton City Council.

The station was installed ahead of the recent Australian Football Skool International Tournament, which saw more than 1,500 players and their families visit Shepparton for the event.

Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) communications support officer, Karen Ranson said tap water was better for your health, the environment and your hip pocket, compared to bottled water and other sugary drinks.

“We’re working with groups and organisations across our service area to install more hydration stations so more people have access to free, fresh water.

“The Goulburn Valley is lucky to have some of the best quality drinking water in the world, so we hope people bring their bottles to fill up.”

Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure, Phil Hoare said council was proud to partner with GVW to deliver infrastructure that would benefit the community.

“It’s so important to keep hydrated while playing sport and we hope this will encourage more people to choose tap water as their drink of choice,” Mr Hoare said.
