NOW on the cusp of opening, weather permitting, the Gargarro Botanic Gardens in Girgarre promises to be a bold and beautiful sensory destination.
Described as the jewel in the crown of the Campaspe region, the new world-class botanical installation will not only be alive with an abundance of natives but will also provide a spectacular sensory experience with five uniquely designed gardens, each appealing to one of the five senses.
See, Listen, Taste, Touch and Smell represent each of the five gardens to be developed and will fall under a stewardship that is responsive to climatic variables, celebratory of First Nations People and their history as well as endeavour to induce a sense of wellbeing amongst its patrons.
With ongoing funding and grants supporting the Gargarro Botanic Gardens project, the new Girgarre Café is also set to open, offering visitors and locals alike with a meeting place as well as a delicious hub for refreshment and relaxation.
With a vision focussed squarely on sustainability and best practice assuring the revitalisation of endangered species, the Gargarro Botanic Gardens is not only an innovative model incorporating a garden nursery, which exclusively sells cultivated natives, but a multifaceted experience that will also include live performances and events, staged from its world class amphitheatre, aptly called the Soundshell.
