STRESS can knock all of us sideways as times, but when low moods persist it is important to share your feelings and concerns with a friend or a relative.
For many people however, addressing their feelings and concerns is something they feel more comfortable doing with a trustworthy, non-judgemental professional.
Walter Chikwanha is an experienced wellbeing worker at the Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub, and he would like people to know that they are never alone when it comes to dealing with their emotional wellbeing.
As we are all ‘social animals,’ Walter said that low moods and negative emotions should never be left unaddressed, “First and foremost, people should never bottle up their stresses. Whatever people are feeling they need to try and connect with somebody, anybody, a friend, a relative or to a trustworthy professional in a service like ours. Bottling up stress and how you are really feeling only exacerbates the problem.”
With no need for a referral, anybody wishing to seek a professional, open-minded ear to alleviate their emotional load can make an appointment at the hub without a lengthy wait time.
Stating that the Community and Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub is not only a welcoming and relaxed space, Walter also said it is an excellent first-port-of-call for anyone looking for (or discovering they need) more specialised assistance.
“We offer a space for people to talk about their feelings so they can find relief and we also have the knowledge and capability of assisting people to find other supports if required,” Walter said.
You can make an appointment today at the Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub at 3A Nixon Street, Shepparton or by calling 1300 375 330
