
A 64-year-old man of no fixed address has been rescued after becoming trapped by rising floodwater in bushland near Mooroopna on Thursday, August 13.
Police received several calls from the man, who was seeking assistance as water from the Goulburn River quickly rose around him. Without a specific location, the Air Wing was called in to help locate him in bushland between Shepparton and Mooroopna, south of the Midland Highway.
The man was found on dry land surrounded by floodwater at about 12.30pm. Police, Shepparton Search & Rescue and the SES then worked together to convey him to safer ground. He was rescued and taken into the care of paramedics.
