RUN FOR MUM... The Mother's Day Classic has raised over $41.5M over 25 years for breast cancer research, with 1.5M people having participated in the fun run and walk held on Mother's Day. Local events are taking place in Shepparton, Girgarre and Seymour. Photo: Supplied

AUSTRALIA’S biggest fun run and walk for breast cancer research, the Women in Super Mother’s Day Classic (MDC), has announced more than 70 locations nationwide where participants can celebrate, honour and raise vital funds for those impacted by breast cancer. Local events will run in Girgarre, Shepparton and for the first time, in Seymour as well.

“We are excited to announce that in 2023, the 26th year of the MDC, there will be 73 locations in major cities, metro areas and regional towns for Australians to unite nationally in support of breast cancer research,” said MDC CEO, Zara Lawless.

“And we’re thrilled to reveal there are almost 20 locations that are either joining the Mother’s Day Classic nationwide community for the first time, or re-joining us after taking a break through the disruption the last few years.”

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in Australia and sadly, nine Australians die from it every single day. Proceeds go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to fund research to improve outcomes for those affected by breast cancer.

“Over 1.5 million people have participated in the Mother’s Day Classic for breast cancer research in the past 25 years, donating $41.5 millions, and each year we are building on the success of the event,” said Ms Lawless.

The MDC supports the NBCF’s goal of zero deaths from breast cancer. Together we can improve the lives of the 57 Australians diagnosed with breast cancer each day, now and into the future.
